Salesforce is set to significantly ramp up its Investment in Generative AI, with CEO Marc Benioff revealing on the All-In podcast that the company expects to spend nearly $300 million on anthropic tokens in 2026. A substantial portion of this expenditure will be allocated to AI-assisted coding and software development initiatives.
Despite the massive investment in automation, Benioff emphASIzed that AI coding tools are designed to accelerate engineering workflows rather than replace human developers. This strategy marks a shift from the company's January 2025 announcement, where Salesforce fRoze software engineering hires to focus on adding 1,000 to 2,000 sales staff. However, the hiring landscape is evolving again; in April, Benioff confirmed plans to recruit 1,000 graduates and interns to support the company's expanding AI ecosystem.
Salesforce has already invested over $300 million in Anthropic, solidifying their strategic partnership. As of June 2025, AI technologies were already manAGIng between 30% and 50% of Salesforce's workload, highlighting the rapid integration of Autonomous Agents into its enterprise Operations.
