NVIDIA Establishes First Singapore Research Hub to Advance embodied AI and Infrastructure Efficiency
SINGAPORE, May 20, 2026 — Global AI computing leader Nvidia announced today the establishment of its first research center in Singapore. Unveiled at the opening of the ATxSummit Technology conference, this new facility marks a significant step in Nvidia's strategy to Spearhead the development of Embodied AI and enhance AI infrastructure efficiency within the Asia-Pacific region.
The Singapore research center will collaborate closely with local univeRSIties, industry partners, and government agencies. Its primary mission is to accelerate the evolution of AI from virtual environments to physical APPlications—enabling Intelligent systems to perceive, reason, and ACT in the real world. Additionally, the lab will focus on optimizing AI Infrastructure to improve computational efficiency and reduce Operational costs.
Government Launches New Testbed for Commercial robotics
Coinciding with Nvidia's announcement, the Singapore government revealed plans to launch a dedicated AI robotics testbed later in 2026. This initiative aims to provide a real-world environment for companies to co-design, deploy, test, and validate commercially viable AI robotic solutions.
Several industry leaders, including Certis, DHL, Grab, and QuikBot, are expected to be among the first enterprises to utilize this platform. The testbed will facilitate the piloting of autonomous robots in practical scenarios such as food and parcel delivery, Cleaning services, and SECurity patrols, effectively supplementing the current human workforce.
Center for Intelligent Robotics to Drive innovation
To further strengthen the ecosystem, the government will collaborate with AI robotics firms like Slamtec, Unitree, and QuikBot through the newly established Center for Intelligent Robotics. This center will serve as a hub for piloting Embodied AI applications, accelerating the adoption of automation across various sectors.
These strategic moves underscore Singapore's growing position as a global hub for AI innovation, fostering a collaborative environment where cutting-edge technology meets real-world application.
