Coupa Acquires Rossum to Embed AI-First IDP Across Source-to-Pay Platform

Coupa Acquires AI-Powered intelligent document processing Leader Rossum to Accelerate Autonomous spend management

Announced live at Coupa Inspire 2026 in Las Vegas, Coupa has entered into a DeFinitive agreement to acquire Rossum, a pioneer in AI-first Intelligent document processing (IDP). The move is set to embed Rossum’s advanced IDP capabilities across Coupa’s entire source-to-pay platform, deepening a partnership that began in 2024.

Rossum’s Technology is built on a proprietary transACTional large language model (T-LLM), specifically designed for high-accuracy document understanding. Trained on tens of millions of documents, the model continuously learns from each customer’s unique document sets, enabling it to move far beyond traditional optical character reCognition (OCR). Customers are already using Rossum’s embedded capabilities within the Coupa platform to streamline accounts payable (AP) and complex invoicing workflows.

With this acquisition, Coupa intends to extend Rossum’s AI technology beyond AP into broader direct and indirect spend scenarios, promising faster processing cycles and significant cost savings. The combination of Rossum’s transactional intelligence with Coupa’s massive dataset—encompassing over $10 trillion in transactional data—will feed Coupa’s Navi Agentic AI fleet, creating a powerful system of decision and intelligence.
