According to a statement released by GalaxySpace, a leading private space company, the institute AIms to build a full-chain innovation platform. This platform will encompass everything from technology research and development (R&D) to in-orbit space testing.
Collaborative Ecosystem and Leadership
The institute was jointly established by the National Information Technology APPlication Innovation Park and a consortium of prominent enterprises, including BOE Technology Group, GalaxySpace, and LandSpace.

To foster a comprehensive space-computing industrial ecosystem, the institute will adopt a "company + alliance" Framework. It will also support the creation of a Space Computing Committee led by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).
Advancements in satellite manufacturing
A major focus of this initiative is the industrialization of satellite production. Zhang Shijie, Chief Scientist at GalaxySpace, highlighted that the company's satellite smart fACTory in E-Town has integrated Intelligent assembly robots, digital manufacturing systems, and automated testing platforms. These advancements have significantly boosted production flexibility and manufacturing efficiency.
A major focus of this initiative is the industrialization of satellite production. These advancements have significantly boosted production flexibility and manufacturing efficiency.
The factory has successfully established a complete manufacturing chain for satellites ranging from 100 to 2,000 kilograms. It is capable of producing 150 medium-sized satellites annually, cutting development cycles by 80 percent compared to traditional models.
"Achieving considerable reductions in satellite costs and advancing satellite manufacturing into a new stage of low-cost, industrial-scale mass production is an important prerequisite for building scalable and commercially viable space computing networks," Zhang stated.
Industry Momentum and future Outlook
This development follows the inaugural Space Computing Industry Conference held in Beijing E-Town in early April. Co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology and the CAICT, the event initiated the preparation for the Beijing Space Computing Innovation Center. During the conference, a series of key space-computing technology projects were unveiled under a challenge-based innovation program, and the Space Computing Committee was formally established.
