May 7, 2026 — anthropic has announced a major strategic partnership with SpaceX to secure substantial additional computing power, AIming to enhance the capacity and usage limits of its claude product suite.
Under the agreement, Anthropic will utilize the full computational resources of SpaceX's Colossus 1 data center. This collaboration is set to deliver over 300 megawatts of new compute capacity to Anthropic within a month—equivalent to more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs—which will directly improve the service capacity and experience for Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers.
Coinciding with this partnership, Anthropic announced immediate updates to its usage policies, effective today:
Claude Code Limits Doubled: The five-hour rate limit for Claude Code has been doubled for users on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans.
Peak Hour Restrictions REMOved: Rate limiting during peak hours for Pro and Max users has been eliminated.
API Limits Increased: Rate limits for the Claude Opus API have been significantly raised.
Furthermore, Anthropic disclosed several other major AI infrastructure Partnerships. These include an agreement with Amazon for up to 5 gigawatts (GW) of compute power, a 5 GW deal with Google and Broadcom, and a collaboration with Microsoft and NVIDIA involving $30 billion in Azure compute resources.
Looking toward the future, Anthropic also revealed its interest in exploring the joint development of multi-gigawatt "orbital AI Compute" infrastructure with SpaceX.
