South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has officially launched its first public-private trade security dialog, convening executives from ten leading companies in the Semiconductor, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and quantum technology sectors. The strategic meeting focused on navigating the complex landscape of international trade, with specific discussions centered on evolving U.S. export controls regarding semiconductors and China's newly implemented supply chain management regulations.
Recognizing that robust trade security policies require close collaboration with the private sector, the ministry emphasized the necessity of maintaining continuous communication with industry leaders. To facilitate this, the ministry plans to establish dedicated hotlines with key industry groups by the end of June. Furthermore, the scope of these critical trade security discussions is set to expand in the near future to include representatives from the machinery, robotics, and automotive industries, ensuring a comprehensive APProach to national trade Resilience.
