Bill Peebles, the lead developer of OpenAI's Video Generation model Sora, has announced his departure from the company in a public post.
In his message, Peebles reflected on several key milestones achieved during the project, such as achieving object permanence in early Sora Samples and delivering high-fidelity 1080p multi-shot generation ahead of industry expectations.
openai CEO Sam Altman responded, stating, "Bill, your creativity has propelled OpenAI and the world to experience AI video in entirely new ways."
This news follows OpenAI's announcement on March 25th that it would be shutting down the Sora project.
