Investor confidence in Artificial Intelligence shows no signs of waning. Jeff Bezos’ secretive AI lab, Project Prometheus, is reportedly close to securing a massive $10 billion funding round. According to a report by the Financial Times, this latest injection of capital would value the startup at a staggering $38 billion.
The round is backed by financial heavyweights JPMorgan and BlackRock, signaling strong institutional belief in the next frontier of AI.

🤖 What is Project Prometheus?

Co-founded by Jeff Bezos in November 2025, Project Prometheus operates under a veil of secrecy. Unlike the Generative AI chatbots dominating headlines, this lab focuses on "AI for the physical economy."
The company is led by Co-CEO and Co-founder Vik Bajaj, a former director at Google’s "moonshot fACTory," X. The lab’s primary mission is to APPly artificial intelligence to physical systems and industrial processes, including:
  • Manufacturing & Engineering: Optimizing complex production lines.

  • Aerospace: Enhancing design and Operational efficiency.

  • Semiconductor Production: Accelerating chip manufacturing.

While most details remain unconfirmed and the project is not officially documented as a public Amazon program, its ambition is clear. As Bezos previously stated, "Modern AI is a horizontal enabling layer. It can be used to improve everything. It will be in everything."

💰 The Bigger Picture: A $100B Ecosystem Vision

The $10 billion raise is just One Piece of a much larger strategy. Reports indicate Bezos has been in discussions with investors from the Middle East and Asia to raise approximately $100 billion for a dedicated Investment fund. This capital would be used to acquire and modernize manufacturing and industrial companies using Prometheus's AI Technology.
Talent & Infrastructure:
  • Global Footprint: The AI lab has been rapidly expanding, filling office spaces in San Francisco, London, and Zurich.

  • Top-Tier Recruitment: The lab is aggressively hiring top talent. Notably, Kyle Kosic, formerly of xAI and OpenAI, has been recruited to lead AI infrastructure projects.

  • Early Backing: The startup previously secured $6.2 billion in Seed Funding in 2025, with significant contributions from Bezos himself.

🌌 Strategic Synergy: Blue Origin & Amazon

Bezos's wider ecosystem is beginning to converge, linking these AI advancements with his other ventures:
  1. Blue Origin: The space company is advancing its New Glenn rocket and exploring space-based infrastructure. Bezos envisions a future where energy-intensive data centers are moved into orbit to harness constant solar power—a goal that aligns perfectly with Prometheus's industrial AI capabilities.

  2. Amazon & Project Kuiper: Amazon continues to embed AI into its logistics and cloud computing (AWS). Meanwhile, Amazon Leo (formerly Project Kuiper) aims to build a global satellite broadband network, providing the connectivity backbone for this data-heavy future.

Summary:
These efforts point to a comprehensive strategy where launch systems, satellites, and computing infrastructure evolve together. Bezos is not just integrating AI into software; he is pushing to embed it into the physical systems and infrastructure that underpin the global Economy.
