LAS VEGAS — At the Google Cloud Next 2026 conference, Google Cloud officially declared the ARRival of the "Agentic Enterprise." Moving beyond the experimental phase of Generative AI, the tech giant unveiled a comprehensive suite of tools designed to help businesses develop, govern, and defend AI Agents at scale.
The event marked a pivotal shift from "chatting with AI" to deploying autonomous workflows that drive tangible business outcomes.

📈 The Rise of Agentic AI

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, emphasized that the future discussed a year ago has arrived. "Today, that future is in-production – the Agentic Enterprise is real – and deployed at a scale the world has never before seen," Kurian stated.
This transition is driven by massive adoption. google revealed that its first-party models now process over 16 billion tokens per minute via direct API calls—a significant surge from 10 billion just a quarter ago. Furthermore, Gemini Enterprise has seen a 40% quarter-over-quarter growth in paid monthly ACTive users, signaling that businesses are ready to move from pilots to production.

🛠️ Key announcements: A Full-Stack Agent Ecosystem

To support this massive scale, Google Cloud introduced several critical platforms designed to act as the "connective tissue" for modern organizations:
  • Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform: Described by Sundar Pichai as a "mission control for the agentic enterprise," this platform allows businesses to build, scale, govern, and optimize thousands of agents securely. It addresses the complexity of manAGIng large-scale AI Deployments.

  • Agentic Defense & Security: Recognizing that the best defense against AI-powered attacks is AI itself, Google Cloud launched new security agents. These include the Threat Hunting agent for proactive defense and the Detection Engineering agent (in preview) to identify security gaps.

  • Wiz Integration: Following the acquisition of Wiz, Google Cloud is integrating Wiz’s Cloud and AI Security Platform with Google’s threat Intelligence. This includes the AI APPlication Protection Platform, offering autonomous security from code to runtime.

  • Agentic Data Cloud: A new suite of tools designed to make enterprise data instantly accessible and usable by AI agents, breaking down silos between Data Storage and AI processing.

⚙️ Next-Gen Infrastructure: The 8th Gen TPUs

Underpinning this software revolution is a massive upgrade in hardware. Google announced the 8th Generation Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), engineered specifically for both accelerated training and inference.
These chips are designed to handle the massive data volumes required by complex AI models, offering substantial improvements in performance and energy efficiency. This infrastructure is crucial for supporting the "Agentic taskforce" concept, where multiple agents collaborate to solve complex problems.

🏢 Google as the "Zero Customer"

Google continues to use its own Operations as a testing ground for these innovations. Sundar Pichai highlighted that 75% of all new code at Google is now AI-generated and approved by engineers, a sharp increase from 50% last fall.
Additionally, internal marketing teams have reduced creative asset turnaround times by 70% while increasing conversion rates, proving that the "Agentic Enterprise" is not just a concept, but a Productivity reality.
