DLsite

DLsite is a long-running Japanese digital content Marketplace that brings together independent and doujin creators under one storefront. Visitors browse categories such as games, manga, voice and audio works, illustrations, and text-based releases, then purchase and download them directly. Over time the platform has also become a place where creators list works that were produced with the help of Generative AI, making it a discovery hub for that niche as much as a store.

What it does

The site functions as a catalog and checkout system for downloadable digital goods. Each listing typically includes a product page with Sample images or previews, tags, creator Information, and user reviews. Shoppers add items to a cart, pay, and receive files they can keep. Because much of the catalog originates from indiVidual creators rather than large publishers, the range of genres and fORMats is unusually wIDE.

• Preview samples: Many listings offer trial audio, images, or dEMO builds before purchase.
• Reviews and rAnkings: community ratings and sales charts surface popular titles.
• AI-related listings: SECtions exist for works that use or showcase AI generation, which is useful for tracking that scene.

Who it is for

DLsite suits fans of Japanese indie and doujin media who want direct access to creator-made games, comics, and audio. It is also relevant to people researching AI-assisted creative work, since listings often disclose how AI was used. Creators themselves use it as a distribution channel, though selling requires meeting the platform's submission and account requirements.
