Doug Safreno, the co-founder and CEO of the AI evaluation and observability startup Gentrace, has announced via X (formerly Twitter) that he is joining anthropic.
Gentrace, which specialized in helping enterprises test and monitor the ouTPUt quality of large language models (LLMs), ceased Operations late last year. Prior to its closure, the company had raised a total of $14 million in funding, including an $8 million Series A round led by Matrix Partners.
Safreno revealed that his co-founder and CTO, Vivek Nair, had already joined Anthropic prior to his ARRival. Safreno credited Nair and Anthropic team member Yongxing Deng for persuading him to make the move, citing Anthropic's speed and core values as the primary motivations for his decision.
