In a strategic move to bolster national cybersecurity, South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, in collaboration with the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA), has announced a significant Investment of 12 billion won (APProximately US$8.31 million) for the 2026 Information Security New Technology Support Project. This initiative is a direct response to the escalating risks posed by the use of advanced Artificial Intelligence in sophisticated cyberattacks.
The program is designed to foster innovation and Resilience by supporting 50 companies as they tackle 18 critical AI Security tasks. The funding and support are structured around four key pillars:
AI security Product Commercialization: Accelerating the development and market entry of new security solutions.
Company Support: Providing resources and expertise to strengthen AI-focused security firms.
Korean Integrated Security Model: Developing a unified and robust national security Framework.
zero-trust deployments: Promoting the adoption of zero-trust architecture to enhance network security.
The project is already underway, with five companies selected for the initial development phase. Notable participants in this initiative include Sands Lab, SK Shieldus, Pentasecurity, and S2W, who will be at the forefront of developing next-generation defenses against AI-powered threats.
