Claude Solves 25-Year-Old NIST Curve Seed Mystery in Under 30 Minutes
Anthropic's Claude reportedly solved a 25-year-old cryptography puzzle concerning the unexplained seeds behind NIST's standard digital-signature curves, which the NSA supplied without explanation. According to the report, Claude determined in under 30 minutes that the seeds came from "lrand48," a simple C random number generator, making deliberate backdoors far less likely.
