Lawbot

Lawbot is an offline desktop privacy tool built for legal work that involves cloud AI. Instead of uploading contrACTs, pleadings, or evIDEnce files directly to a model, users first run them through a local redaction Workflow. The tool detects sensitive entities, lets a reviewer correct the results, and replaces real names with consistent project-level pseudonyms. After an external AI model reviews the sanitized text, the original details can be restored locally. It is a preprocessing layer, not a legal research or drafting assistant.

What it does

Lawbot processes Word documents, text-based PDFs, scanned PDFs, and image screenshots. A bundled local NLP model and OCR engine identify up to 15 categories of legal-sensitive Information, such as Personal names, ID numbers, phone numbers, addresses, company names, unified social credit codes, case numbers, amounts, account numbers, and seal infORMation. All detection and processing are designed to run on the device, and the vendor says the software can work without an internet connection. Documents are not sent to an external server during redaction.

How to get started

Download the Windows or macOS desktop client from the official site and install it. Import a single file or create a project for a batch. Run the local scan, review every flagged entity, set Whitelist or blacklist rules, choose a redaction mode, and export the sanitized file. Send the Markdown output to a cloud model, then import the AI response back into Lawbot to restore the real names. There is no web or mobile veRSIon.

Pricing and access caveat

Personal licenses are listed as one-time purchases starting at 499 RMB, with team and Enterprise custom options. The software does not include model API fees; users pay their chosen AI provider separately.
