Field experiment: AI lifts junior patent attorneys' performance but gains fade without it
A three-month field experiment with 133 patent attorneys found that AI improved immediate performance, with junior lawyers gaining the most. When the AI was removed, only senior attorneys retained the benefits, suggesting baseline expertise may be needed for AI-assisted practice to translate into lasting skill.
