Thinking Machines Releases Inkling 2 Small, a 594B MoE With 17B Active
Thinking Machines Lab has released Inkling 2 Small, a sparse Mixture-of-Experts model with 594B total and 17B active parameters, supporting text and image input with a 1M-token context. It scores 31 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, up from 13 for its predecessor, and is available on Tinker for fine-tuning and inference. The model shows strong performance on coding and vision benchmarks but lags on terminal-based tasks and is slower and more verbose than competitors. Apache 2.0 weights are planned after external safety testing.
