Double Exposure Art of Diao Chan: The Legend of Mizhi
AI Redraws the Legend of Mizhi: Half History, Half Legend. This time, I created a series of AI posters for the 'Mizhi Characters Series'. I designed the characters as massive side-profile silhouettes, allowing their stories, regions, and eras to naturally grow out from within the silhouettes. For the 'Mizhi Diao Chan' image, the focus is not on treating Diao Chan as a confirmed historical figure, but rather on an artistic expression based on her literary image in 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms', local Mizhi legends, and the regional aesthetic of 'Mizhi women'. The artwork integrates the Loess Plateau, Mizhi Ancient City, cave dwellings, the Wuding River, as well as imagery associated with Diao Chan such as palaces, round fans, bronze mirrors, and lanterns. The 'Mizhi Li Zicheng' image emphasizes historical basis. Li Zicheng was a native of Mizhi, Shaanxi, and the leader of the peasant uprising at the end of the Ming Dynasty, also known as the 'King of Shun'. The artwork incorporates the gullies of the Loess Plateau, Panlong Mountain, Li Zicheng's palace, rebel troops, banners, war horses, and the beacon fires of the chaotic late Ming era, portraying his tragic fate of emerging from the yellow earth of Mizhi and becoming embroiled in the dynastic transition. My goal is not to create generic ancient-style posters, but to let AI help us rediscover local culture: Half legend, half history; Half land, half the fate of the characters.
