GPT-6 Astra reprograms other AI models by directly editing their weights
MIT researchers demonstrated that OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra can read and deliberately rewrite the weights of other AI models without traditional training. In one experiment, Astra boosted a Qwen model's math accuracy from 7.9% to 48.1% by changing only 0.016% of its weights. The approach could simplify AI optimization but still faces clear limitations.
RoboTryOn: Synthesizing Dexterous Robot Demonstrations from Human Videos via Virtual Try-On
RoboTryOn converts egocentric human videos into robot demonstration videos by swapping the human for a target robot while preserving the task, objects, and background. It uses autoregressive keyframe translation and motion conditioning on human hand skeletons, plus an inverse dynamics model with depth features to infer actions. Policies trained on this synthetic data improved success rates on novel bimanual tasks from 2% to 60% without real robot demos, and matched teleoperation-trained performance at about a third of the collection cost.
GeoFaham: Multi-Agent Geospatial Analytics for Disaster Response
GeoFaham is a domain-specialized multi-agent system that decomposes geospatial disaster-response workflows into specialist agents for vector, map, imagery, and raster analysis, coordinated by an Orchestrator with a dual-ledger control loop. It uses a Response Store to persist outputs outside the LLM context, reducing token usage. On the new GeoFaham-Bench benchmark, it outperforms general coding agents with a score of 0.940 versus 0.879, using 7.5 times fewer tokens.

Tencent WeVisOne-VL Unifies Detection, OCR, Segmentation and Matting
Tencent's WeChat Vision team released WeVisOne-VL, an open vision language model in 2B and 4B sizes that handles detection, referring, counting, pointing, OCR, segmentation, and alpha matting in one model. It uses a 9.6M-parameter pixel decoder, eliminating the need for a separate SAM, and can output 'None' for absent objects. The model outperforms same-scale baselines on many benchmarks, including 71.3 F1 on Dense200 detection and 81.8 F1 on RefCOCOg referring, and is available under Apache 2.0.

U Mobile builds agentic telco operations with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
U Mobile's Information Systems Division, with AWS and Axrail, built AiDaH, an agentic helpdesk on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. It handles over 150 operational scenarios across six divisions, cutting trouble tickets by up to 84.5%. The six-layer architecture uses managed agent runtime, memory, and gateway capabilities to coordinate across systems.
OpenAI Agrees to Buy Software Startup Pierre to Bolster Codex
OpenAI announced it is acquiring Pierre Computer Company, a three-year-old startup that builds developer tools for code management and review. Pierre's open-source tools, including Code Storage, are already used by OpenAI's coding agent Codex. The acquisition aims to strengthen Codex's capabilities in software development.
Voters back anti-AI measures in US elections, threatening Trump's AI buildout
In the 2026 US elections, voters overwhelmingly supported measures to restrict data centers and AI development, with 38 out of 44 ballot initiatives passing across 10 states. These measures include moratoriums and bans that will impact future projects planned for 2028, though existing construction is unaffected. Additionally, anti-AI candidates won key races, signaling a political backlash against the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure.
Google Is Forcing AI Overviews in Classrooms. Schools Are Searching for a Way Out
Google is integrating AI Overviews into its search results for educational settings, sparking backlash from parents and educators. Critics argue that providing instant machine-generated answers undermines students' critical thinking and learning. Schools are actively looking for ways to circumvent or disable this feature.
Texas was the new epicenter of the AI data center buildout. That might be kaput.
Texas, the fastest-growing data center market in the US, faces an uncertain future after Democrats won key state offices by campaigning against data centers. The new governor and senator have proposed moratoriums, potentially slowing or halting massive AI projects like Stargate Frontier and Nexus Hubbard. However, local complexities and union support may complicate enforcement of sweeping restrictions.

AT&T's Connected Life integrates Gemini for Home
AT&T's smart home security system, Connected Life, now integrates with Gemini for Home, claiming to be the first home security product to do so. Users can get AI-powered summaries of home events, search video footage using natural language queries, and receive detailed descriptions of security camera events. The integration leverages Google Home Premium to bring Gemini features to AT&T's security ecosystem.
Anthropic's text watermark is easy to bypass on several older Claude models
Anthropic is rolling out text watermarks to four more Claude models ahead of the EU AI Act's December deadline. However, on older models like Claude Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6, API users can disable the watermark by changing a single sampling parameter. Anthropic's response to the loophole is a compliance warning rather than a technical fix.
ChatGPT will now make you animated GIFs
OpenAI has rolled out GIF generation in ChatGPT, powered by its new Images 2.6 model. Users can create animated GIFs from text prompts or uploaded photos, adjust playback speed, edit individual frames, and share the result. This marks the first time ChatGPT can natively produce GIFs in a single step.
Smart Approvals in Amazon Quick: Human oversight where it matters
AWS introduces Smart Approvals in Amazon Quick, a feature that uses a classifier model to automatically approve eligible agent actions or return them for human review, balancing oversight with reduced interruptions. It evaluates actions against user requests and conversation context, respects existing permissions and mandatory approvals, and provides audit trails via CloudTrail and CloudWatch Logs. The feature is on by default, configurable via Custom Permissions, and designed to mitigate prompt injection and preserve human control over consequential decisions.

Use decision models with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Evaluations
This post explains how to integrate decision models like Jev and Strands Decider 2B into Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Evaluations via code-based evaluators. It covers the trade-offs between decision models and LLM-as-a-judge, provides a step-by-step validation procedure, and recommends a cascade pattern where decision models screen turns and escalate low-confidence cases to built-in evaluators. The accompanying code sample demonstrates an HR Assistant agent with deterministic, built-in, and decision-model evaluators.
Four layers of context engineering for production AI agents: How Deep Insight applies them in working code
This AWS blog post details a four-layer approach to context engineering for production AI agents, using the open-source Deep Insight multi-agent system as a reference. The layers are architecture-level context isolation, prompt-based output control, file-based context externalization, and verification with independent agents. Concrete code examples show a 95% token reduction in script context and a 97% reduction in system prompt size.
