AI Simplifies and Generalizes a Formal Demography Proof on Vaccinating the Oldest
An experiment tested whether an AI model (Claude) could contribute to formal demography by explaining and simplifying a proof about COVID-19 vaccination priorities. The model produced a shorter, more intuitive proof based on convexity of the reciprocal hazard, and generalized the result with an exact relaxation condition. The exercise suggests AI can revisit established results and make them more accessible.
