OperAItor: Agentic Framework for Fault-Tolerant Chemical Process Operation
OperAItor is an open-source framework for building and evaluating LLM agents that supervise fault management in chemical plants. Tested on a simulated reactor-distillation process, it integrates monitoring, diagnosis, knowledge retrieval, and action planning with multiple validation methods. Across 20 fault scenarios, validated agents reduced plant stops from 18 to 5-8 and recovered $265,000 of potential losses.
